Renew your paRKING PERMIT FOR 2026

Residents with permanent address in Józsefváros are eligible to obtain a residential parking permit for their vehicle.

District residential parking permits issued in 2025 are valid until January 31, 2026.

Therefore, starting from December 1, 2025, residents can renew their parking permit for the following year.

New Discounts Now Available:

  • A 15% discount applies if you apply for or renew your 2026 parking permit online between December 1 and December 31, 2025.
  • A 10% discount applies if you apply for or renew your 2026 parking permit online between December 1 and December 31, 2026.

Additionally, a new option is available: residents may obtain a discounted district residential parking permit for one vehicle that is operated by their employer (leased or long-term rental) but is in the resident’s exclusive use, provided that no discounted residential parking permit exists for the address at the time of application. This permit can also be obtained online.

Pensioners, district residents with large families, and those owning a second vehicle (per address) can also renew their parking permit online.
As we need to verify the documents required for the discount in the case of pensioners and large families, the approval process may take longer. Thank you for your patience!

A district resident whose health condition, certified by a general practitioner, requires care, as well as any person providing care for a permanently ill or severely disabled relative with a registered address in the district (as certified by a general practitioner), is entitled to a 100% discount on the annual fee for the residential parking permit.
Please note: the discount can only be applied once—either by the person requiring care or by the relative providing care. This permit can only be obtained in person or through an authorized representative.

How the Municipality of Józsefváros calculates the discounted residential parking permit fee?

The annual fee for a residential parking permit is determined by the regulation of the Municipality of Budapest.

This fee equals 250 times the hourly parking rate in the given zone. Based on this city tariff, the Municipality of Józsefváros calculates the discounted district residential parking permit fee, which applies to a maximum of two vehicles per household.

The city tariff is:

  • Zone “A”: 150,000 HUF
  • Zone “B”: 112,500 HUF
  • Zone “C”: 75,000 HUF

A maximum of two residential parking permits can be issued per address.

Since September 5, 2022, residential parking permits in Józsefváros have also been assigned according to zones “A”, “B”, and “C”. [map]

The exact district boundaries can be found here.

Previously, residential parking permits were issued per resident. Permits can be requested per household for up to two vehicles, with a maximum of one permit per resident.

If a resident owns more than two vehicles, parking tickets must be purchased or mobile parking must be initiated for the additional cars.

What is the fee for the discounted district residential parking permit?

Who is not eligible for a discounted district residential parking permit?
District residents moving into newly constructed residential buildings that received their occupancy permit after this date are not eligible to apply for a discounted residential parking permit from the Municipality. For these residents, the city tariff applies, as current legislation and the decisions of property developers require that a sufficient number of parking spaces for vehicle storage be provided within the property for those moving into these buildings.

What does the full price per car per year mean?

  • Zone “A”: 150,000 HUF
