10 new restaurants and community spaces have joined the network of public toilets in Józsefváros. This has increased the number of places where toilets can be used free of charge, for anyone who follows the rules of the place, whether or not they are paying guests. Those who join the scheme will now provide public toilets to all for a year.
Thank you to our old and new partners for helping to make Józsefváros more open and clean!
The implementation of the Public Toilet Campaign was originally decided by the people of Józsefváros in the 2023 Participatory Budgeting. The Municipality considered the pilot programme a success and started the long-term implementation of the idea, launching the Public Toilets Network programme in January 2025. In this round, the following places – with the following opening hours – have joined the programme, allowing ten more toilets to be used in Józsefváros.

What have the partners committed to?
- Equipped and regularly cleaned toilets are available free of charge during the opening hours of the place for one year, regardless of whether the applicant is a paying guest or not,
- preparing a monthly report on the performance of the contract,
- the service provider must place a clearly visible information sign or sticker at the entrance of the catering establishment or community space. This sign is provided by the municipality, drawing attention to the possibility of using the toilet free of charge,
- providing the possibility for the provision of the service to be verified by the staff of the municipality.
