We need a team! Organize your own event!

Last updated: (Létrehozva: 2025.10.14.)

What is “We need a team” about?

Do you live in Józsefváros, go to school here, take part in a club or do sports in the district? Then why not organize a program together for your community or for the wider neighborhood?

We’ll help you!

This initiative was created to support program ideas developed by children and young people in Józsefváros.

The Municipality of Józsefváros is providing a total of 2 million HUF in funding for this purpose.

Each program, idea, or action can receive up to 199,999 HUF in support.

Who can apply for implementing a program?

Children and young people aged 10 to 20 who live in Józsefváros or go to school in the district are welcome to apply.

We are looking for teams of at least 4 people.

What kind of ideas can you apply with?

Would you like to go to an adventure park or a swimming pool together? Would you organize an open-air movie night in the district? Exhibit your drawings in a gallery?Train together for a sports competition—or challenge a team from another school? Maybe fill Losonci tér with colorful chalk drawings?

If your idea gets selected, we’ll help make it happen!
For example, we can buy your tickets or rent the projector for the screening. Just keep in mind: we can only support ideas that don’t involve buying expensive equipment (so we can’t, for example, buy you a ping pong table).

The most important thing is that you come up with the idea together with your friends—your classmates, teammates, or clubmates—and organize it as a team.

Each idea can receive up to 199,999 HUF in support from the local government.

The activities should take place during the 2025/26 school year. We also need some time to review your ideas and figure out how we can help. So please plan your activity no earlier than February 2026. Even better if your plan is flexible! For example, if we can’t get tickets on the exact date you want, we might still be able to arrange it a couple of weeks later.

Where and how can you submit your application?

You can find and submit the application form by clicking here.

Application deadline: Tuesday, November 11, 2025

Who will support you in bringing your idea to life?

One of the goals of the program is to help children and young people get involved in the life of Józsefváros. To make sure you feel safe and supported throughout the process, you’ll need adult helpers that you choose.

If someone on your team is over 18 years old, you don’t need to name an adult helper.

The adult helper can be your favorite teacher, mentor, or even an adult family member.

From the local government side, you can also count on Vera Merker. She works as a community organizer at the  Office of Community Participation and will help you with budgeting, planning, and making your program happen.

When will you find out the results, how do we decide, and what happens next?

  1. We are accepting applications until Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
After you submit your program ideas, we will contact you to help you develop them further and plan your budget. The reviewers will evaluate the finalized proposals that have gone through this mentoring process.
  2. The completed applications will be evaluated by a three-person committee, and the young members of the newly formed Józsefváros Youth Council will also review and assess them.
Based on their recommendations, the mayor will make the final decision on which ideas can be supported. We will need a few weeks to make a well-considered decision, so you can expect to hear the results by December 12, 2025, at the latest.
We will contact the adult supporter you have chosen by phone or email.

Our evaluation criteria (detailed scoring can be found in the official announcement linked at the end of this webpage news) include:

  • Number of students participating in the program
    • The more participants, the higher the score.
  • Proportion of participants from Józsefváros
  • Gender ratio (boys to girls) in the group
    • Aim for equality!
  • Is the program beneficial in the long term?
    • An event organized with the intention of creating a tradition, focused on acquiring useful knowledge or skills, and fostering new connections between groups of young people.
  • To what extent does the program strengthen the community?
    • For example, organizing a concert together for your choir will score higher than just going to a concert as a group.
  • Smoothness and thoroughness of implementation
    • We’ll help with that, too.
  1. Once the winners are announced, there will be a joint event where you can meet the other winners. We’ll also have a little surprise prepared for you! It’s a great opportunity to come with lots of questions about how to carry out your program, because the people who can help will be there to answer them.
  2. After that, you’ll just need to carry out your programs and send us a report at the end.
Tell us how it went and share your experiences! This is important so that both you and we can learn what worked well and what could be improved. Decide together how you want to share your stories with us. Will you write it down? Make a group video or a photo gallery? We’ll figure this out together at the in-person meeting.
