The Office of Community Participation and the Józsefváros Közösségeiért Nonprofit rtd. have announced the 2025 Neighbourhood Fest initiative. A total of 40 applications were received, 26 of which will be organised in Józsefváros by mid-November 2025.

Neighbourhood Fest in Zsír
How else to celebrate the peak of spring but with a good Goulash cooking! If you have the time, you can watch our Dósai Geri cook the best goulash of your life using fresh vegetables from the Zsámbók Organic Garden. While your lunch is simmering you can wander through the Zsír Market, where you’ll also find handmade Moldavian prints, jewellery, tea blends and clothes. In the afternoon the Gypsy Moods will start teaching singing and dancing, and finally the band AZTA will play.Anyone with a competitive spirit can take part in the first ever Little Zsír Peasant Olympics, a real good peasant is up for anything, so the competition numbers will only be revealed on the day!

JÓME Summer opening clean-up and neighbourhood festival
We invite everyone to a community programme ,organised by the Józsefváros Association for the MÁV depot (JÓME) to celebrate Neighbourhood Fest.
In our green waste and garbage collection action, we will walk our streets and pick up the scattered waste, cut, trim and sweep.
In the churchyard, we enjoy an outdoor cookout and enjoy the joy of a job well done. We also welcome those who could not participate in the clean-up! During the afternoon, there will be an opportunity for a table tennis competition and a demonstration of the professional use of outdoor fitness equipment.

Neihbourhood Fest in Mátyás tér
On Saturday 31 May, the second Mátyás tér Neighbourhood Festival will take place, where all residents of the neighbourhood are welcome. Come and spend an afternoon together in the square again!
The neighbourhood celebration will start at 2 pm with a joint preparation and decoration of the square, followed by a concert, a war of numbers, a literary crochet circle and board games for children and adults.

Baking and cooking together with Átalakító tér!
A joint baking and cooking of saved food, outside in the small park, followed by a dinner with live music.
All this on the day of the Hungarian Overconsumption Day, on when we use up this year’s resources on a national scale.
In the back room of the Internép, we have created the “Átalakító tér” to recreate value from waste and to educate others to do the same, in the hope that more and more of us will do so.

Mozgó Protkó Vidámcsoport 20 year old celebration party
Our group was founded in May 2005 from the members of the Józsefváros Ciklámen club, back then it was called Ciklámen Táncika Wumen dance group, 8 years ago the name was changed, since then we are known as the Mozgó Protkó Vidám Csoport.Everywhere we perform we say that Józsefváros is our home, and we are proud of this.This year our group is 20 years old, and we would like to celebrate this nice round anniversary together with the people of Józsefváros.

A joint event of Mira Community Space, KÖZÖS Café, Profilantrop and Dankó Courtyard in the spirit of regenerative thinking.
During the day you can learn about regenerative theory and try out practical tools. We will make handmade utensils and cook and eat and think about the future of the planet and of mankind.

Tenants’ Community Neighbourhood Festival
The Józsefváros Advocacy Tenants’ Community’s Neighbourhood Festival is intended to deepen the relationship between tenants living in the municipal rental apartments of the Orczy and Magdolna districts and to strengthen tenant solidarity, but our event is open to all citizens of Józsefváros. Besides cooking and eating together, we will also organise a music programme, a children’s programme and a local history quiz. For the occasion, we will decorate the Dankó courtyard with photos of our tenants and their apartment buildings.

First Hairdressers’ Night
Hairdressers’ Night on St. Magdalene’s Day, when “every trimmed hair is worth its weight in gold”!
Dajer Szellemi Műhely invites the residents of Horváth Mihály tér to celebrate this summer evening together with music and tango. And the ladies from the neighbourhood will get their hair done for free by a professional hairdresser neighbour.

Neighbourhood Fest in Golgota tér
The Neighbourhood to Community Programme invites all its neighbours to a community cookout in Golgota tér.
It’s become a tradition to organize the annual preserving – we cook a “lecsó”, ratatouille to go with the pickles and then top it off with a sweet jam. There will also be live music and craft activities to make everyone feel at home. The Gólya Cooperative’s Neighbourhood to Community Programme is working to build stronger communities and make the district – and the Gólya itself – a better place.

Gardening with a house of Leonardo da Vinci köz
For the Neighbourhood Festival, we would like to renovate the hedge row bordering our small garden with about 10 plants and replace missing plants.
As is our tradition, after the work is done, we have a small “team building” party and get-together with varying numbers (20-60 people).
Marathon cooking competition on Százados út
During a full-day cooking competition, we bring together our many (100+) neighbours to show everyone what they can do with a kettle and half a kilo of diced meat plus some vegetables. We’re deliberately planning so that we can eventually get lots of food to those who are – or are not – able to attend the party; culminating in a fun retro concert at the end of the day.
Neighbourhood Fest of a house in Teleki tér
Joint staircase painting and cleaning with the residents of the building, followed by a picnic in the inner courtyard or in the park on Teleki László tér. The aim of the programme is to encourage residents to get to know each other and get involved in making their own environment more beautiful.
Kolónia Courtyard Festival
Organising a joint celebration in the second largest housing estate in Hungary (24 staircases, 645 flats, nearly a thousand residents) is a very exciting undertaking and this is the 3rd time we will have the opportunity to do so in the framework of Neighbourhood Fest. Our aim is to “reclaim the courtyard”, or to put it another way: to get the residents out of their homes and get to know each other better. The joint activities: we would start the day with a pleasant jog, continue with a joint cooking session, exchange books on plants, provide benches for a flea market and eat together the food cooked in the stove all day.

The ArtEnto Ecocentre invites the residents of Baross utca to a Neighbourhood Festival: together we will plant flowers, measure and refresh the garden, eat-drink, talk and get to know each other. Because together we can make the garden even more beautiful and strengthen our neighbourhood to create a greener, more cohesive community in our building!

One of the apartment buildings on Győrffy utca is organising a community barbecue. Our neighbourhood party will include face painting, bead stringing, ball games, badminton and board games.
Neighbourhood fest in Leonardo da Vinci utca
We moved here nearly forty years ago as first residents, and it took us many years to get to know each other, to become “neighbours”.
By getting to know each other, we can help each other and not just pass each other by with a hello. We look after each other’s children, each other’s values, each other’s safety. We are a 10-storey block of flats, with three staircases and a total of 230 apartments.

We invite the residents of the house to the STEREO Művház to create and get to know each other!
We are planning an informal afternoon with music, games and snacks, with the aim of getting the residents into a real dialogue with their neighbours, to start real relationships within the community, to dare to open up to each other, because we live here next to each other!
Neghbourhood fest in Lujza utca
The aim of our neighbours’ party is to build our community, to get to know each other, to be real good neighbours. There are people in the house (with limited mobility) who live between the four walls, so they would have the opportunity to relax. In the house, the event is announced by the invitation to cook together. Children can participate in a soap bubble blowing and asphalt chalking.
