Tree planting in Leonardo da Vinci köz will begin on 12 November 2025. As part of the project, 10 new trees will be planted next to Leonardo da Vinci köz 2. (the former Archives building). The goal of the development is to make this heavily paved, unshaded area greener, cooler, and more livable.
What kind of work will take place?
By removing the pavement, a new green space will be created, including 10 trees, a new lawn, and an automatic irrigation system.
Duration of the works
The construction of the tree pits will start on 12 November 2025 at 8:00 a.m., and is expected to continue until the end of November. The trees will be planted in the first week of December. The fine landscaping work, the installation of the irrigation system’s sprinkler heads, and the laying of the new lawn will take place between March and May 2026.
Work schedule
- 12–14 November: breaking up the asphalt and removing construction debris. (Higher noise and dust levels are expected during these days. Thank you for your understanding.)
- 17–18 November: asphalt cutting, water line installation, and building the main line of the irrigation system.
- 17–21 November: excavation and soil replacement for 10 tree pits.
- First week of December: planting the trees.
Work will take place on weekdays only, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Traffic changes during construction
Between 12 and 18 November, due to asphalt cutting, one-lane traffic will be introduced on the section between the dog park and the new green area. Temporary traffic signs will assist safe passage.
