Józsefváros Ice Rink – 2025

For two months again this year, a free ice skating rink will be open at Horváth Mihály Square. We warmly welcome the residents of Józsefváros to enjoy the 300 m² ice rink!

Location: Budapest, Horváth Mihály tér
Season: November 28, 2025 – February 1, 2026
Opening hours: Monday–Sunday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Closed on: December 24, December 31, and January 1

Prices:

  • Use of the ice rink: Free of charge
  • Skate rental: up to size 36 – 800 HUF, size 37 and above – 1600 HUF

School and kindergarten groups can use the rink free of charge during school hours (8:00 AM – 2:00 PM), and skates are also provided free of charge.
Group reservations can be made through the online booking system by providing the date and number of participants at:

Weather conditions—such as rain or unusually warm temperatures—may affect the rink’s operation. For the latest updates, please follow the Rendezvény8 Facebook page and the related event posts.

During the winter break, Józsefváros students under 14 years old can use skates free of charge.

First Advent Weekend
  • November 28, Friday

16:30 – Judit Kovács: “The Elf Knows” – puppet show
Tupakka pedals around Elfville (Manófalva), between the Elf Hills (Manódombok), with a shovel on his back. Mufurc the grumpy handyman complains, and Rutoldó the cheeky one laughs at everyone. Elfville could use a gift of smiles — luckily, Tupakka is bringing exactly that.

11:00 – Bergengóc Zenegóc: Christmas in Bergengócia
With cheerful Christmas songs, poems, acoustic instruments, and puppetry, we fly to Bergengócia to discover what’s hidden in the Christmas gift baskets.

16:30 – Ribizli Story Theatre: Csimpilimpi, Where’s Lunch?
Princess Powder-Sugar orders her court jester, Csimpilimpi, to prepare special dishes. Unsatisfied with the “jester’s menu,” she invites exotic chefs from faraway lands to her new-wave kitchen.

18:00 – Felhő utca – concert
Bölcsészpop’ and ‘spleenpunk’: melancholic, socially critical music. A world-roaming cellar band formed by Péter Csákai-Szőke, Péter Sviszt and Gábor Holtzer, joined by regular guest musicians.

A spicy instrument presentation and fairytale revue featuring sink-trombones, soul-pots, Bulgarian bagpipes, Ghanaian xylophones, silly puns, ridiculous rhymes, and squeaky dog toys.

16:30 – Rizi-bizi Trio: Trip to Foodland – story concert
A gastronomic concert for kids and adults alike, seasoned with cheerful stories. We ride a spinach-bicycle across Pancake Country and pedal to the Land of Potato Elves.

A chamber folk music project featuring koboz, vocals, and winds.

16:30 – Batyu Theatre: The Grumpy Badger’s Holiday – puppet show
The forest animals are preparing gifts — wrapping, whispering, planning — except the Grumpy Badger. “Nonsense,” he says. “I’ll sleep until spring, and if anyone wakes me, I’ll be grumpy!”

18:00 – Soma Növé and Sándor Csoóri Jr. – concert
A virtuoso duo performing their favorite folk songs with guitar, viola, and tambura.

11:00 – Batyu Theatre: Snow White and Rose Red – bunraku puppet show
From a magical suitcase emerges a storybook and its characters: two girls born from rosewood, a kind widow, a gentle bear, and an evil dwarf.

16:30 – Mátyás Sőnfeld: Music-Bag Experience Program
The crutch-flute, pitcher-saxophone, bottle-lele, glove-bagpipe, broom-guitar, and water-pistol whistle all come to life in this interactive eco-instrument extravaganza.

18:00 – Amor Fati: Semmike Songs
Songs performed in five languages: Hungarian, Turkish, Romanian, Romani, and Croatian. The band’s first album was featured on the prestigious World Music Chart “The Year 2024”.
