Let’s make International Women’s Day even better together!
As in previous years, the Municipality of Józsefváros is organizing a donation drive this year to collect menstrual products and other hygiene items for women living in poverty.
In Hungary, 3 out of 10 women may be affected by menstrual poverty, meaning that 3 out of 10 women cannot afford to buy the necessary hygiene products during their period.
Menstrual poverty can only be eliminated through systemic changes, but in the meantime, the Municipality of Józsefváros is striving to help women who face difficulties every month when purchasing menstrual products.
You can donate:
- tampons,
- shower gel, body lotion, hair care products, deodorant,
- cosmetics.
It is important to note that we are no longer collecting sanitary products this year, as these are provided free of charge to women in need by the Municipality of Józsefváros as part of the 2M Program.
Donation collection period:
February 16 to March 6, 2026.

- Mátyás Pékság (Mátyás Bakery) – 1084 Budapest, Mátyás tér 14. Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Donations will be distributed to those in need by the staff of the Social Services and Child Welfare Center.
