Bulk waste collection and hazardous waste disposal : 14-21 april 2026

In April 2026, Józsefváros will hold its annual bulk waste collection, accompanied by a special hazardous waste disposal initiative organized by the Józsefvárosi Gazdálkodási Központ. Both services are free of charge for residents but are subject to strict regulations.

Bulk waste collection

To maintain order, the district is divided into zones. Please check the official map for your specific street: Interactive Map

  • Placement Period: April 13 – April 20, 2026.
  • Removal Period: April 14 – April 21, 2026.

You may only place your waste outside after 6:00 PM on the day before your district’s scheduled removal. Collection will take place the following morning.

To ensure public safety and cleanliness, please follow these instructions:

  • Place items in front of your building in a spot easily accessible by collection trucks.
  • Do not block sidewalks, roads, or bicycle lanes. Keep green areas (parks and flower beds) clear.
  • Placing waste outside the permitted timeframe is an offense and may result in a fine.

Accepted items:

  • Old furniture (cabinets, tables, chairs, etc.)
  • Mattresses and bed frames
  • Carpets and large suitcases
  • Large sports equipment
  • Wooden crates and cardboard boxes

Prohibited items:

  • Regular household trash (kitchen waste)
  • Textiles (clothes, rags)
  • Construction debris (bricks, tiles, concrete)
  • Tires and car parts
  • Green waste (branches, grass, leaves)
  • Hazardous waste (electronics, chemicals)
  • Recyclables (paper, plastic, glass)

Hazardous waste collection

Hazardous materials (batteries, chemicals, etc.) pose a risk to the environment. They must be taken to the dedicated JGK collection points.

This service is only for residents with a permanent address in District VIII. Please bring your ID and Address Card for verification.

Collection points will be closed on Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18.

What can you drop off?

  • Electronics: TVs, fridges, computers, bulbs.
  • Chemicals: Paint, thinners, solvents, adhesives, cleaners.
  • Batteries: Household batteries and car accumulators.
  • Oils: Used motor oil, oil filters, and used cooking oil.
  • Medical: Expired medicine and syringes.
