April’s enrollment week has come to a close, but the Kindergartens of Józsefváros haven not closed their doors and are still welcoming applicants to our member kindergartens! Last week, 261 families enrolled their children in our institutions—thank you for your trust! Our kindergartens will never tell anyone to come back later or that we’re full—we welcome every child!
Starting in September, enrolled children will join a group that learns English, participates in free developmental exercise classes, waters the neighborhood trees in the summer, or names the sprinkler and street-cleaning trucks in Józsefváros.
We look forward to meeting you!
Below you can read our news article from before April’s enrollment week, which still contains useful information for families who are enrolling their children in our kindergartens at a later date.
Enrollment in the Kindergartens of Józsefváros has begun!
Starting April 20 this year, you can enroll your child in person or online—the Józsefváros Kindergartens warmly recommend in-person enrollment so that you can take this opportunity to discuss your children and their needs together.
And starting April 20, we’ll be welcoming you for a week of enrollment days.
About Enrollment
Kindergarten is a mandatory educational institution for children from age three until the start of compulsory schooling, which gradually prepares children for school from the moment they enter kindergarten.
Starting in September 2026, children who turn 3 by August 31, 2026, are required to attend kindergarten.

Documents required for registration:

- an official document issued in the child’s name confirming their address,
- official identification documents confirming the parent’s identity,
- an official document issued in the parent’s name confirming their address,

- for children with special educational needs, the expert opinion of an expert committee.
Which kindergarten should the child attend?
Children with a district address all live within the catchment area of a district kindergarten. However, during the enrollment process, we pay special attention to ensuring that the selected kindergartens best meet the needs of parents and children. For this reason, we recommend that parents select three kindergartens to ensure that the one best suited to their child’s development is secured.
We wholeheartedly recommend any kindergarten in Józsefváros, as each one is staffed by well-trained and dedicated professionals. All of our kindergartens offer high-quality free programs such as Mozgitív gymnastics and experiential English language learning. In addition, our kindergartens provide numerous unique programs.
