The Budapest Sewerage Works (Fővárosi Csatornázási Művek) is carrying out reconstruction work on the section of Dankó utca between Kálvária tér and Magdolna utca. The reconstruction work along the entire stretch of road is expected to continue in several phases until the end of November.

The aim of the renovation is to refurbish the sewer, which is in poor condition, thereby putting an end to the regular road subsidence and problems caused by other sewerage faults experienced previously.

The utility line reconstruction works are being carried out together with the ‘Healthy Streets’ (Egészséges utcák) programme, thus the renovated Dankó utca will become a safe, tree-lined route between Mátyás tér and Kálvária tér. With its reduced car traffic, it will be comfortable for pedestrians and will also serve as a bicycle route.

When?

1st Phase: From 17 August to 13 September, 2026. 

The remaining phases of the reconstruction work are expected to continue until the end of November. 

How can the street be used during this period?

On foot: pedestrian traffic on both sides of the street is unimpeded on the pavements

By bicycle: due to the complete road closure, cycling through the area is prohibited

By car: due to the complete road closure, car access is prohibited

Parking: parking is prohibited on the closed section of the street

Local traffic: vehicles with a destination on this street may enter it using the even-numbered side parking lane in the usual direction of travel (from Magdolna utca towards Kálvária tér) to access the garages of the houses
