Residents with a permanent address in Józsefváros can receive a residential waiting allowance for their car.
District residential waiting permits issued in 2024 are valid until 31 January 2025. Therefore, from 15 November 2024, residents will be able to renew their waiting permits for the following year.
Attention! As of this year, pensioners, large families in the district and people with a second car (per address) will be able to renew their waiting permit online. As we need to check the documents required for the discount for pensioners and large families, the authorisation process may take a little longer. Thank you for your patience!

How does the Municipality of Józsefváros calculate the discounted district parking permit fee?
The annual fee for the public waiting fee is determined by the Decree of the Municipality of Budapest. This fee is 250 times the waiting time fee per hour per year. From this metropolitan tariff, the Municipality of Józsefváros calculates the district’s reduced fee for the parking contribution for up to two cars per apartment.
The tariff in the capital is HUF 150.000 in zone “A”, HUF 112.500 in zone “B” and HUF 75.000 in zone “C”. A maximum of two waiting allowances can be issued per address.
- In Józsefváros, in line with the metropolitan zones that came into force on 5 September 2022, residential parking permits will also be based on zones “A”, “B” and “C”. [map]
The exact boundaries of the zones can be found here: https://www.jgk.hu/magunkrol/parkolasi-igazgatosag/korzetek-varakozasi-es-altalanos-parkolasi-informaciok/
- Up to now, the residents’ waiting allowance was granted per inhabitant, but from 1 January 2023, as in other districts of the capital, a maximum of 2 cars per apartment can be requested for a residents’ waiting allowance. If someone has more than one vehicle, they will have to buy a parking ticket or start a mobile parking service.

Who cannot get a district discounted residential parking permit?
As of 1 January 2023 , residents moving into newly built residential buildings and obtaining a permit to occupy them after that date will no longer be able to apply for a discounted residential parking permit from the municipality. They will be subject to the metropolitan tariff, given that, according to the legislation in force and the decision of the developers, the number of parking spaces available for the storage of vehicles in these buildings must be sufficient for the residents moving into them.
What is the total price per year for each car?
In zone “A” HUF 150.000, in zone “B” HUF 112.500, in zone “C” HUF 75.000 .
In the case of a vehicle owned, leased or rented on a long-term basis by the employer, but used exclusively by the resident, the district’s resident waiting allowance is 50% subsidised by the municipality – if no reduced resident waiting allowance has been issued for the same residence at the time of application.
What does the reduced waiting allowance mean per year in this case?
In zone “A” 75.000 HUF, in zone “B” 56.250 HUF, in zone “C” 37.500 HUF.

- A resident of the district who needs care for a health condition certified by a general practitioner or a person who cares for a relative who is a resident of the district and certified by a general practitioner as being permanently ill or seriously disabled is entitled to a 100% discount on the reduced annual fee for the resident waiting allowance.
