Here are the winning ideas of the 2025 Józsefváros Participatory Budgeting – This year, we jointly decided on the fate of 200 million forints in Józsefváros!
This year, the voting for the participatory budgeting closed at midnight on October 12. Out of the 491 submitted ideas, 40 made it onto the ballot, and residents could vote on how to spend 200 million forints. The ideas will be implemented in 4 categories, each category with a budget of 50 million forints.
The online and paper-based votes were counted and tallied by our colleagues and the members of the participatory budgeting comittee.
2431 people voted this year – this is 1000 more than last year! This increase shows that, year after year, more and more people in Józsefváros are taking the opportunity to directly shape the district.
1790 people cast their votes online, and 641 people voted in person using paper ballots. Each voter could vote for a maximum of 7 ideas. The list of winning ideas was compiled based on a total of 15,754 votes.
The list of ideas that will be brought to the Municipal Assembly of Józsefváros was determined by the order established according to the number of votes.Based on the votes, a total of the following 19 winning projects will be brought to the Municipal Assembly of Józsefváros:
The ideas that received the most votes in District I (Palotanegyed, Csarnok negyed, and Corvin negyed):
- Pedestrian-friendly József street, 742 votes, estimated cost: 30 million forints.
- Due to exceeding the district budget limit of 50 million, the idea that received the second most votes will be implemented partially. Greening of Kis Salétrom street and making Salétrom street accessible (which received 667 votes) will be implemented with a budget of 20 million forints instead of 25 million forints.
The ideas that received the most votes in District II (Népszínház negyed, Magdolna negyed, Kerepesdűlő):
- Development of the Népszínház Street junctions, 1055 votes, estimated cost: 15 million forints.
- Rain and sun-protecting bus stop for the 99 busline, 623 votes, estimated cost: 12 million forints.
- Zebra crossing for Pápa Square, 358 votes, estimated cost: 10 million forints.
- Karácsony Street public lighting, 337 votes, estimated cost: 9 million forints.
- Due to exceeding the district budget limit of 50 million, the idea that received the fifth most votes will be partially implemented by the Municipality. Development of the Mátyás Square playground (which collected 300 votes) will be implemented with a budget of 4 million forints.
The ideas that received the most votes in District III (Losonci negyed, Orczy negyed, Ganz negyed, Tisztviselőtelep):
- More bins, less rubbish, 1004 votes, estimated cost: 5 million forints.
- Support for exiting sex work, 927 votes, estimated cost: 5 million forints.
- Beautification of Leonardo Passage, 318 votes, estimated cost: 8 million forints.
- Safe crossing between the Százados Road kindergarten and nursery, 272 votes, estimated cost: 15 million forints.
- Bus stop on Vajda Péter Street, 264 votes, estimated cost: 12 million forints.
- Sporty District – Development of the football pitch in Golgota Square and organization of Sunday training days, 209 votes, estimated cost: 5 million forints.
Winning projects not tied to a specific location, affecting the entire district, which we will implement:
- Miyawaki forest for Józsefváros, 1146 votes, estimated cost: 8 million forints.
- Creation of food rescue and donation points, 925 votes, estimated cost: 6 million forints.
- Light-oasis (“Fényoázis”), 638 votes, estimated cost: 12 million forints. “Those Days” – let’s continue the fight against menstrual poverty, 375 votes, estimated cost: 5 million forints.
- Painting of parking spaces throughout the district, 327 votes, estimated cost: 15 million forints.
- Due to exceeding the district budget limit of 50 million, the idea that finished in sixth place with 311 votes, Learning for Everyone (Tanulás mindenkinek), will be partially implemented by the Municipality with a budget of 4 million forints.

The implementation of the winning ideas is subject to a November City Council decision of the Municipal Assembly of Józsefváros. We will inform you about the decision and the implementation of the ideas.
