Óvóhely Józsefváros Victim support group

Óvóhely Józsefváros is a support group of JSZSZGYK, where you can turn for help in cases of domestic violence – whether you are a victim, a family member, or even a neighbor.
Our goal is to provide safe and, if necessary, quick assistance to anyone who is in danger or concerned about others.

Óvóhely was created as part of the international SHELTER project, which aims to:

  • provide complex, trauma-informed support for victims,
  • offer legal, psychological, and social assistance,
  • train professionals and promote exchange of experience,
  • raise public awareness about the signs of abuse and available support.

The SHELTER project is funded by the European Union.

Who can use it?
  • Anyone living in Józsefváros who becomes a victim of domestic or partner violence,
  • People who are single or elderly and feel threatened,
  • Relatives whose loved ones are in a dangerous situation,
  • Neighbors or acquaintances who notice that a child or adult is regularly abused by a family member.
What kind of support can you get?
  • Safety planning: We help you plan escape, moving, and starting over.
  • Legal support: Our lawyer gives advice in civil cases, police reports, and restraining orders. For those in need, we can also provide free legal representation.
  • Psychological support: We help both adults and children cope with the emotional burden of abuse.
  • In-person and online meetings: Not only for victims, but also for relatives, “conscious neighbors,” and professionals.
How much does it cost?

All services of Óvóhely are free of charge.
