The municipality of Józsefváros is starting a programme called “Trainer at the Dog Park”, which will take place between June 7, 2026, and March 7, 2027!
Throughout this period, we will organise a total of 15 training sessions, one every two weeks, in different locations. In each location we will be holding a series of 3 consecutive training sessions, each building on the previous one but also designed to allow for taking them individually (Session 1, Session 2, Session 3). The 3 consecutive sessions will be held 2 weeks apart, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
To organise the “Trainer at the Dog Park” programme, the Municipality is cooperating with individual entrepreneur Csongor Kiripolszky, a certified dog trainer who is the founder and lead instructor of the dog training service DogBro – Downtown Dog Trainer (DogBro – Belvárosi Kutyatréner).
The programme is free of charge for every dog owner of Józsefváros whose dog has a microchip and up-to-date vaccinations. However, participation requires registration and completing a short questionnaire (find details below).
The programme aims to improve dog ownership practices in Józsefváros, strengthen local dog-owning communities, and reduce conflicts arising from pet ownership. The training series focuses on implementing responsible dog ownership in an urban environment, with particular attention to the rules for using dog parks, behaviour in public spaces, and support for owners of dogs considered “problematic.” The training sessions provide knowledge about responsible pet ownership, obedience exercises, and urban behavioural norms in a practice-oriented, easily digestible format. The goal is to promote both individual development and the reinforcement of community norms.
What is the “Trainer at the Dog Park” programme?
This year, the Municipality of Józsefváros once again organises the “Trainer at the Dog Park” programme. This event series provides free training for the dog owners of Józsefváros, through which they can master basic commands, develop their relationship with their dogs, as well as learn about community coexistence with dogs.
The training period takes place between June 7, 2026, and March 31, 2027. Throughout this period, we will organise a total of 15 training sessions, one every two weeks, in different locations (but with 3 consecutive sessions in each location).
The sessions are held in groups of 6 to 12 people, with dogs, and last 2 hours. In each location we will be holding a series of 3 consecutive training sessions, each building on the previous one but also designed to allow for taking them individually (Session 1, Session 2, Session 3). The 3 consecutive sessions will be held 2 weeks apart.
Each session consists of 4 modules:
- Module 1 – Introduction – Responsible Dog Ownership in the City
- Module 2 – Basic Obedience and Cooperation Training
- Module 3 – Playful Cooperation and Mental Tasks
- Module 4 – Socialisation and Desensitisation
If you have further questions about the structure of the modules you can contact the trainer at info@dogbro.hu
Who can apply?
You may participate in the programme if:
- You have a permanent or temporary address in the 8th District, or you are a tenant with a lease agreement for an apartment in District 8,
- You are the keeper or caretaker of the animal,
- The animal’s official place of residence is in District 8 (if you have a pet health record or a pet passport, you must provide these as proof; if not, you must make a declaration to that effect),
- The animal has a microchip and up-to-date rabies vaccinations (you can provide proof of these via a copy of your pet’s health record).
If your dog tends to display aggressive behaviour, please do not bring it to the group sessions. This is in the best interest of both the animal and the community.
If you are experiencing this problem and need help dealing with it, please first attend a training session without the animal, and discuss your options with the trainer, or contact the DogBro training school for a free consultation or discounted individual training. You can contact them here: dogbrokutyaiskola@gmail.com
To ensure that the training sessions are as beneficial as possible for both the owner and the animal, each owner may bring only one dog to a training session. Owners who have multiple dogs may bring their pets to different sessions separately.
How to apply?
To participate in the programme, you must first fill out a short registration questionnaire. The registration questionnaires must always be filled out at least 3 days before the training session in question.
These questionnaires aid the personalisation of the training sessions, as well as evaluation and feedback collection later.
