We invite you on each weekend of Advent at Horváth Mihály tér in the Józsefváros Bálaszín for various programs.
We will light the candle on the square in front of the church.
Programs for the first Advent weekend
Friday, 25 November
4 pm Rézeleje Fanfárosok – concert
Moldavian dance music on modern instruments, mixing with the popular tunes of “muzică populară”. Inspired by the music of the Carpathian Basin, Romania and the Balkan as well.
5 pm Literary program (Irodalmi bálabontás)
Our guests will be writers form the 8th district Pál Ficsku and István Szathmári. Host: György Szerbhorváth
6 pm Rézeleje táncház
At our folk dance events old melodies live on in modern times, but in their original setting. In addition to the music of Moldovan folk dances, comprising the majority of the repertoire, the music of the Carpathian Basin, Romania and the Balkan will be included as well.
7 pm Szőke András és a műszálas tündérek (András Szőke and the synthetic fiber fairies) – Szatymazi otthonka-revü (House dress revue from Szatymaz)
In the first act, András Szőke does stand-up comedy (house dress chronology), then in the second act, a fashion show of house dresses can be observed, with commentary from András Szőke. A small house dress exhibition will also be held. We are accepting applications of brave amateur models for the fashion show as well! (Apply at kulturkubikos@gmail.com.)

11 am Kispárna Mesezenekar
Own songs paired with games. In their themes the topics of environmental protection, importance of being active and of hygiene, family, values of friendship are embedded into the framework of Christmas celebrations.

3 pm Batyu Színház: Vulpine Székely fairy tale
Based on a fairy tale from Bukovina, The vulpine Székely bride and the devil. Once upon a time in the country of Erdély, at the borders of River Arieș, there lived a Székely man and his wife…

Authentic ethno concert with Boyash Romani songs.

December 2, Friday
3 pm „Zenegyerekeknek”: Resounding from the depths of night
Cheerful winter songs with Laci Juhász of „Zenegyerekeknek”. Popular children’s songs, folk songs, traditional elements, round dances, and nursery rhymes. In addition to the guitar, vocal, and rhythm section, woodwind and other instruments will perform.
4 pm Mese-Játék és Kézműves Céh: Waiting for Mikulás
Stories, games, and nursery rhymes with music in anticipation of the holiday. Songs and poems about winter and the holiday. (for 3-7 years olds – family program).
5 pm Literary program (Irodalmi bálabontás)

6 pm Sonivius Vappae – concert
A band of noisy rascals born from the mud of the Middle Ages condemned to eternal wandering. They torment unsuspecting people who come their way with coarse slurs and punish those destined for similar damnation while convicted by the same means. Their instruments of torture: medieval bagpipe, medieval whistle, flute, cistern, human voice, Tapan, djembe, lute, lute.

Rézeleje Fanfárosk plays Moldavian folk music in a modern, metropolitan style. The popular Carpathian, Romanian and Balkan tunes now get a Christmas twist.

11 am Szeleburdi Meseszínház: The two cheerful reindeer
Gyuszi and Guszti reindeers lose Santa’s sleigh loaded with sweets in the neck-deep snow. What will Santa Claus say? The mystery will be solved by the end of the story with the help of the children.

Medieval music. The raucous good-for-nothings shout in the ears of unsuspecting listeners as a means of punishment. Thus they cheer the worthy and punish the damned. Their instruments include the medieval bagpipe, whistle, flute, tapan, djembedrum, hurdy gurdy and lute. They sing in Hungarian and in Latin and Old French as well.
